Former Gauhati High Court employee convicted

GUWAHATI: A special court here on Wednesday convicted one Wahed Ali, a former employee of Gauhati high court , of corruption and sentenced him to four years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs eight lakhs. The court has also ordered to serve him one more year of imprisonment on failing to pay the fine.Ali was accused of a financial anomalies and disproportionate assets. It was alleged that during his service as a record arranger of Gauhati HC he had inflated the amount of money of 214 bills by inserting, overwriting and erasing the figures and drawn money of over Rs 21 lakhs, which was more than thespecified amount of Rs 10 lakh.
