Northeast Frontier Railway conducts 3-day ticket checking drive

"During the drive, the NFR collected a total amount for Rs 44,626 as revenue. The impact of the check was reflected in ticket sales," said PJ Sharma, chief public relations officer of NFR. An amount of Rs 40,805 was collected as fine from the erring passengers.Officials conducting the drive also detected overcharging of packaged drinking water and underweight charging in parcel consignments at Guwahati, Lumding and Agartala railway stations for which penalty was collected. GUWAHATI: The vigilance department of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), jointly with the commercial department, conducted a special ticket-checking drive on board the Kanchanjunga Express from Guwahati to Agartala in Tripura for the three days and collected a huge amount of revenue as fine .During the drive that took place from August 20-22, 159 cases of passengers travelling without tickets, impropers tickets and unbooked luggage were detected.
