Police nab fifth Nalbari rape accused

GUWAHATI: The fifth accused in the Nalbari gangrape case , Meerazul Ali, was nabbed from Nalbari district 's Arikuchi village on Tuesday. With his arrest, Nalbari Police have arrested all the five accused who had gang-raped a 24-year-old woman last Wednesday. Ali had been absconding since the incident.Earlier, the other four accused, including the prime accused in the case, Kishori Mohan Das, were arrested and sent to police remand. "Meerazul was called up by Kishori after at least three of the accused had raped her. She had accepted the lift as the trio was familiar to them.

"Meerazul was called up by Kishori after at least three of the accused had raped her. He and his friend Rupdhan joined them in the crime. Medical tests will reveal his involvement in the crime," said sources.Earlier on Wednesday evening, three of the accused - Kishori, Bokul Nath and Nurul Ali - were in a car when they offered a lift to the victim while she was returning home from a market with her husband. She had accepted the lift as the trio was familiar to them.
