'Sankalp Yatra' against bill gather momentum

The organizations will meet a huge cross-section of people on their journey, during which they will try to gather public support against the bill. JORHAT: Activists of 71 organizations led by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), who have launched the 'Sankalp Yatra' from four corners of the state to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, held meetings in Sivasagar, Charaideu and Jorhat districts on Monday. All the people, irrespective of their religion, community, age and gender, have extended support to our movement and opposed the bill. Several other local organizations also joined our programmes and raised their voices against the bill. "The speakers in the meetings unanimously demanded that the government should withdraw the bill at the earliest.

JORHAT: Activists of 71 organizations led by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), who have launched the 'Sankalp Yatra' from four corners of the state to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, held meetings in Sivasagar, Charaideu and Jorhat districts on Monday. Protest meetings have also been held at Moran, Demow, Sivasagar railway station, Sivasagar Dolmukh Chariali, Jhanji and Teok.As a part of the 'Sankalp Yatra', the motorcycle rallies began from Diphu in the north, Jonai in the south, Sadiya in the east and Dhubri in the west on Sunday. The organizations will meet a huge cross-section of people on their journey, during which they will try to gather public support against the bill. The participants will reach Guwahati on November 16.The team from Jonai in the north has organized meetings in Dhemaji , Narayanpur and Lakhimpur while the one from Diphu has held meetings in Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts. The teams from east and south will meet at Bokakhat in Golaghat district on Tuesday.KMSS adviser Luchan Shyam Gohain said, "Hundreds of activists from KMSS and 70 other organizations are taking part in the motorcycle rallies. Several other local organizations also joined our programmes and raised their voices against the bill. We have received mass support from all corners. All the people, irrespective of their religion, community, age and gender, have extended support to our movement and opposed the bill."The speakers in the meetings unanimously demanded that the government should withdraw the bill at the earliest. Several organizations like All Tai Ahom Students' Union, Ahom Jatiya Gana Mancha, Ujani Asom Muslim Kalyan Parishad and Ahom Sena also took part in the programmes and raised their voices against the bill.
