Trination motor rally reaches Agartala

Agartala: Participants of the India-Bangladesh-Myanmar motor rally , which is being held to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, arrived here on Tuesday via the Akhaura integrated checkpost. It is being led Shambhu Singh, additional secretary of Union ministry of road transport and highways. The rally, comprising 35 participants and 10 vehicles, will cover 7,250km in 22 days across countries. The rally reached Agartala after covering a distance of 157km. It will now pass though Assam and Manipur before concluding at Yangon in Myanmar on February 24.

The rally reached Agartala after covering a distance of 157km. It will leave for Silchar on Wednesday morning.Kalinga Motor Sports Club, with support from the Union ministry of external affairs and Union ministry of road transport and highways, has organised the rally to spread the message of promoting peace, non-violence and safe driving.BSF officials and officials of the Tripura government welcomed the rally at the checkpost in the afternoon. Bangladesh road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader had attended the flagging off ceremony at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.The rally began at Rajghat in New Delhi on February 4 and has covered Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. It will now pass though Assam and Manipur before concluding at Yangon in Myanmar on February 24. The rally, comprising 35 participants and 10 vehicles, will cover 7,250km in 22 days across countries.
