High Power Grass Cutting Machine At Guwahati Airport

On Tuesday, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati has added a high powered grass cutting machine in its operational area to check and reduce the growth of tall grasses. This is first of its kind grass cutting machine deployed at any North Eastern Airports. Before commissioning, the grass cut machine was unveiled by Shri Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director- LGBI Airport, Guwahati at a function inside the central workshop of the Airport in presence of AAI officials. The Guwahati Airport is presently connected with 20 domestic destinations and will get new International connectivity to Bangkok by Thailand bases budget carrier Nok Air. STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: The city airport is adding mechanized as well as automated instruments in its operational are to enhance the existing capacity and improve the aerodrome facilities. On Tuesday, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati has added a high powered grass cutting machine in its operational area to check and reduce the growth of tall grasses. This mechanised grass cutting cum collection machine has been procured by Central Headquarters, AAI New Delhi at a cost of Rs 67.00 Lakhs (approx) each and was imported from Netherlands (Holland). This is first of its kind grass cutting machine deployed at any North Eastern Airports. The grass cut machine will not only cut-collect and dump grasses in bulk, but it will collect and remove insects also, which ultimately will check bird-hit menace in glide and approach path of aircrafts. These machines are fast, safe and efficient than earlier versions. The collections of grasses in bulk is carried out in a closed vessel causing least wastage in operational area which reduces further growth of grasses. This will also reduce involvement of man-hours for same task. Before commissioning, the grass cut machine was unveiled by Shri Ramesh Kumar, Airport Director- LGBI Airport, Guwahati at a function inside the central workshop of the Airport in presence of AAI officials. The Guwahati Airport is presently connected with 20 domestic destinations and will get new International connectivity to Bangkok by Thailand bases budget carrier Nok Air. It will operate twice weekly services from September 22, 2019.
