STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: After receiving the High Courts verdict on the writ petitions filed regarding the exclusion of six numbers of constituencies from election under Tiwa Autonomous Council, the All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS), Dimoria District Committee, Tiwa Students Union, Kamrup District Committee, Karbi Students Union, Nikhil Bodo Students Union and many other tribal unions stated that they welcome the verdict passed by the High Court. The All Assam Tribal Sangha Dimoria District Unit Ratneswar Ronghang said that besides welcoming the order by the Gauhati High Court for holding election in six numbers of constituencies AATS also appealed the Government to conduct election in six constituencies. Ronghang said, “As everyone is aware of the fact that the first election of Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) was held way back in 1995, the then Assam Government had excluded six constituencies among a total of 36 constituencies under the Tiwa Autonomous Council from holding elections. The constituencies namely 26 number Dimoria Constituency, 32 number Digaru Constituency, 33 number Khetri Constituency, 34 number Sonapur Constituency, 35 number Ampri Constituency and 36 number Phong-Ari Constituency were excluded from holding election. Since then, the tribal people belonging to these six constituencies are being deprived of the development schemes from Tiwa Autonomous Council.
