The district administration dug a long pit on the bank of the river Ranganadi filled with water where the idols were immersed as per the custom of Durga Puja.

District administration would fill the pit following the completion of the immersion. Idol immersion on Monday began from 11 am and it concluded at 4 pm.

Durga Puja committees of North Lakhimpur immersed idols at the Immersion Ghat in Ranganadi. It may be mentioned that Ranganadi has been severely polluted due to the yearly immersion of idols during Durga Puja.

The move by the district administration in saving the river from pollution has been applauded.
