Assam recorded 1367 fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday, while 7 people succumbed to the virus in the state.

In view of a massive surge in fresh Covid-19 cases, the Assam government has decided that all lower primary schools will be closed in districts with 100+ Covid-19 positive cases.

The Assam government issued this order on Sunday. The state education department has asked to close all lower primary schools in those districts up to class V.

Assam Health and Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, giving more information about it on his Twitter handle, said that primary schools are allowed to be opened in those districts where the total number of active cases is less than 100. But, all of them will have to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the State Education Department. Regular classes are going on with full strength in all schools since January 1 in Assam.
