Assam government has announced a 15-day full lockdown from Thursday(May 13) at 5 am in view of the massive surge in Covid-19 cases in Assam.

Assam government has announced a 15-day full lockdown from Thursday(May 13) at 5 am in view of the massive surge in Covid-19 cases in Assam.

The state government has ordered the closure of all offices, religious places and weekly markets in urban and semi-urban areas for 15 days and further banned the movement of people from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Issuing new guidelines for urban and semi-urban areas falling within five kilometres of the civic body, Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua said that all shops and commercial establishments of the locality would be closed by 1 pm.

New Guidelines:

  • Weekly markets and haats will be closed for 15 days during the lockdown.
  • Pharmacists are exempted from this order.
  • All shops and business establishments can be opened by 1 pm.
  • Educational institutions and religious institutions will remain closed for 15 days.
  • Except for emergency services, the Odd-Even rule will apply to vehicles from 5 am to 2 am, it will apply from 5 am tomorrow.
  • The offices will open from 5 am to 1 am. Employees can return home by 1-2 pm.
  • There will be a curfew in urban and sub-urban areas from 2 am to 5 am.
  • Essential services are allowed in the villages, the same will remain for the urban areas.
