The police have arrested 24 people in connection with the assault on a junior doctor Seuj Kumar Senapati at the Covid Care Center in the Hojai district of Assam.

The family members of a deceased patient brutally attacked the doctor, whose video went viral on social media. Now, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information on Twitter so far 24 people have been arrested in this case.
He said, "24 culprits involved in this barbaric attack have been arrested and the charge sheet will be filed at the earliest"

What had happened?
The case has emerged from Hojai, about 140 km from Guwahati. According to media reports, apart from the relatives, locals also assaulted Dr Seuj Kumar Senapati posted at the Udali Model Hospital located here. In the video going viral, it can be clearly seen that the doctor is lying on the ground and the accused are constantly beating him mercilessly with garbage bags, brooms and other things. The victim doctor has also been admitted to the hospital.
It is being said that a patient named Giyauddin, a resident of Peepal Pukhuri village, died on Tuesday due to Covid. Talking to reporters, Dr. Senapati said, `The people present with the patient came to me and started saying that the patient`s condition is serious and urine is not passing since morning. I went to the room and found that the patient had died. As soon as I told this news to the relatives, a relative started abusing me. Angry over the death of the patient, the hospital was attacked. During this most of the staff escaped.
