The Assam government has decided to conduct board exams for class 10th and 12th on Tuesday even as the demand for cancellation of examinations in the state was rising on social media. The state government has decided to conduct the examinations at a meeting of stakeholders and education department officials in Guwahati.

The Assam government took this decision on Tuesday after a meeting with CBSE, AHSEC and SEBA, All Assam Students Union, Asom Sahitya Sabha, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, All Assam Students Union, All Bodo Students Union, Mising Autonomous Council.

The details of how and when the exam will be conducted may be released within the next 10 days.

Announcing the decision to conduct board exams for class 10th and 12th in the state, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, "In the meeting, we have reached a consensus that exams should be conducted. The same is the suggestion of the Department of Education. The number of Covid-19 cases is decreasing continuously in the state and examinations are likely to be conducted in the coming days. We will soon prepare and issue special guidelines in this regard.

Pegu said the entire process of conducting the exams is likely to be over by September 5. The Health Department has informed that the situation of Covid-19 will improve in July, but it will not be conducive to conduct the examination next month. The tentative dates for the examination can be between August 1 and August 15.
