Naga People's Front decides to severe ties with NDA

In this connection, the NPF resolves approach the President of India to recall the Governor of Nagaland immediately so that the sanctity of the gubernatorial Office in the State is maintained in future. The NPF party questions the neutrality and the apolitical stand of the Governor, and is of the considered opinion that the Governor has misused, abused and tarnished Raj Bhawan to favour rebellion within the NPF party to enhance the political fortunes of the BJP in Nagaland. ""We have also observed that BJP has decided to foment instability in the state for its own selfish ends in the near future and so the NPF has resolved to sever ties with the national party, with which it has been associated with since 1977," Zumvu added. "Among the 47 NPF legislators in the house 60 (effective strength 59 at present), Liezietsu has 12 legislators and one Independent MLA on his side while his challenger and predecessor TR Zeliang commands the majority support of 33 NPF members besides seven Independent members.The NPF backlash came soon after the four BJP legislators, who have been fence-sitting, gave their support to TR Zeliang after governor PB Acharya issued fresh notice to the chief minister to take the floor test on Tuesday. The governor's summon came after the Kohima bench of Gauhati High Court upheld governor's earlier summon to the CM to prove his majority in the house by July 15, which the CM had challenged.Convener of NPF resolution committee Sebastian Zumvu told TOI, "An emergency meeting of the central executive committee, division presidents and all frontal organisations of the Naga People's Front was held at NPF Central Office, Kohima, at 7.30 pm on July 18, 2017 observed that the undue haste and favour shown by the governor of Nagaland towards the dissident legislators.
