Iskcon likely to provide food to KIMS patients

After district in-charge minister Vinay Kulkarni's instruction three months ago, KIMS submitted the proposal before the government to set up Iskcon food counters.If the proposal gets the nod, Iskcon will provide food to about 1,200 patients a day. HUBBALLI: Authorities at KIMS are planning to give the responsibility of food supply in the hospital to Iskcon. Currently, KIMS is spending Rs 75-80 lakh to supply food. Iskcon food counters will help many patients in getting quality food and also make a big impact on the growth of the hospital," he added.Sources said since many days, patients have been complaining about the quality of food at KIMS, prompting Kulkarni to change the food supply system.Kulkarni said he wants to bring changes in KIMS in line with the system in private hospitals. Now, the priority is to change the food supply system," he said.Kulkarni said that he will also take up the issue with the medical education minister so that the new system is implemented soon.

With Iskcon food counters, this expense will come down to Rs 60-55 lakh.Dr Shivappa, in-charge superintendent of KIMS and head of the cardiac department, said that during a recent visit, Kulkarni sought to know the status of the proposal and also took a copy of it with him. "He promised to get the proposal approved by the government soon. Iskcon food counters will help many patients in getting quality food and also make a big impact on the growth of the hospital," he added.Sources said since many days, patients have been complaining about the quality of food at KIMS, prompting Kulkarni to change the food supply system.Kulkarni said he wants to bring changes in KIMS in line with the system in private hospitals. "There was no reception counter at KIMS. This has already been established. Now, the priority is to change the food supply system," he said.Kulkarni said that he will also take up the issue with the medical education minister so that the new system is implemented soon.
