Telangana Hit By Covid Vaccine Shortage, Less Than 3 Days Of Stock Left

Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) said, "there was no word from the Centre on the appeal made by the Telangana government for the supply of additional vaccine doses".

Telangana has also joined the states who are facing the Covid-19 vaccine shortage. Telangana government has written a letter to Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan in this regard and said that there is only three days of vaccine stock left in the state. In this letter, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, Somesh Kumar has requested that 30 lakh doses of vaccine should be sent to the state for the next 15 days.

According to Somesh Kumar, only 5.66 lakh doses of Corona vaccine is left in the state, which will last for the next three days at most. According to the letter, more than 1.15 lakh doses of corona vaccine were given in the state on Friday and the target is to increase it to 2 lakhs per day.

Apart from Telangana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi and Jharkhand have also sought vaccine from the centre and said that they have only a few days of stock left.

Telangana`s toll of active cases has reached 3.29 lakhs after 2251 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported on Sunday, while six people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours; the death tally has reached 1765.

According to the health bulletin issued by the state government, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had the highest number of 335 cases. This was followed by 258 cases in Medchal Malkajgiri and 244 cases in Nizamabad. The total cases of infection are 3,29,529 while 565 patients have been cured of the infection taking the number of patients recovering to 3,05,900. The state is currently undergoing treatment for 21,864 people and over 79 lakh samples were tested on Sunday. A total of 1.10 crore samples have been tested so far.
