Arunachal town takes up low-chilling apple cultivation

These two varieties are known to produce good apples even with less than 300 hours of chilling temperature at or below 70 Celsius. ITANAGAR: Cultivation of low-chilling varieties of apple has been successfully taken up at Pasighat in East Siang district by L Wangchu , associate professor and head of fruit science department at the College of Horticulture and Forestry in Central Agricultural University The initiative has been taken up under the leadership of AK Pandey, dean of the varsity, an official release informed on Saturday.The apple varieties - anna and golden dorsett - were brought from Solan in Himachal Pradesh and planted in the college farm.
