Arunachal rally demanding water treaty with China

ITANAGAR: Concerned with the unusual behaviour of the Siang river , the three federal units of All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (Aapsu) from East Siang, Siang and Upper Siang districts on Wednesday organised a protest rally demanding a water treaty with China.The Aapsu, along with its All East Siang District Students' Union, All Siang District Students' Union and All Upper Siang District Students' Union, took out a rally from the DC office which culminated in the market.Talking to the media, the unions said the recent flash floods and drying of the mighty Siang river have brought untold miseries to the people and also affected the riverine eco-system. The Centre should confront the Chinese government for a permanent solution," said a member of a students' body.He added, "The feeling of pain, agony and uncertainty can only be expressed by a person whose house and belongings are washed away by the rampaging Siang."
