Villagers stop road construction work in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Villagers of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh have held protests and stopped construction work along a stretch of the Bhalukpong-Charduar-Tawang Road between the Elephant and Sessa villages. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been engaged in widening and double-laning the entire stretch of the Bhalukpong-Charduar-Tawang Road. The local residents stopped the work to protest against non-payment of compensation that was to be paid for acquisition of land, Tezpur-based Defence spokesman Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said.
