Rajasthan is facing a severe shortage of medicines to fight the deadly Black fungus/ Mucormycosis.

The state is facing a scarcity of injections and medicines which are used in the treatment of black fungus.

Rajasthan Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma said that the government is leaving no stone unturned to prevent black fungus. The state government has ordered the serum company to buy 2500 vials of liposomal amphotericin B. The government is contacting 8 big pharma companies in the country. A Global tender has also been floated for the purchase of the drug.

The health minister said that like other medicines, the central government has taken the medicines of black fungus under its control and is supplying the same to the states. He said that the state has received only 700 vials from the Government of India, while he has requested at least 50 thousand vials of the same after talking to the Union Health Minister. He said that the central government should distribute its medicines to the states in proportion to the patients so that people can be saved from this serious disease.

Dr. Sharma said that there are about 100 patients affected by black fungus in the state. A separate ward has also been constructed for the treatment of the disease in Sawaimansingh Hospital.
