A disheartening case of death of a five-year-old girl walking with her grandmother in the scorching heat has come to light due to lack of water.

This incident happened on Sunday. According to the information, Sukhidevi, an old woman resident of Dungri under Raniwada tehsil of Jalore district was going from one district to another with her five-year-old granddaughter. This distance was about 15 kilometres. They both were thirsty but even after walking about 8-10 kilometres in the heat of more than 40 degree Celsius, both of them did not get water. According to media reports, both the maternal grandmother and the girl were going on a path which was a sandy unpaved road. There was no arrangement for drinking water. That`s why they did not get water even after walking a long distance.

On both the way, they stopped at a place near Jalore and started taking a rest. At the same time, the old lady fainted. The woman somehow faced this odd situation, but the girl died unconscious of thirst. According to media reports, a person leaving from there caught sight of both of them. He called the sarpanch of Surajwada, Krishnakumar Purohit. Sarpanch reached the spot with the people of the village and the police. The woman was given water but the girl had died by then. The woman has been admitted to a nearby hospital for first aid.
