Two unidentified miscreants robbed a car from a police inspector and fled in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. During this, the miscreants opened fire on a head constable, which hit him on his stomach.

The incident took place in Sikar`s Ranoli at around 2.30 pm on Monday. Police inspector Narendra Khichar and head constable Mahendra Singh, who were in a private car, had stopped to eat food at a dhaba.

The miscreants who attacked and robbed the car are yet to be traced. Police is raiding different places in search of miscreants. Meanwhile, the head constable Munindra, who was injured by the bullet, is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center in Jaipur. Munindra`s condition is said to be out of danger.

Sikar Superintendent of Police Kunwar Rashtradeep said that as soon as the two policemen entered the dhaba, the miscreants who were drinking tea asked them for the key. The cops were in plain clothes and when Mahendra Singh protested, a miscreant opened fire on them and snatched the keys and fled with the car.

On the other hand, the main opposition party BJP targeted the state government over this incident. BJP state president Satish Poonia described it as an example of criminals getting up in the state. He tweeted, "Take it; The Chief Minister is an example of the high spirit of criminals; Now even the law-keepers of the police are not safe; So how can the common man consider himself safe?
