Jalandhar, January 10 The Jalandhar Rural police today claimed to have busted a gang involved in loot and snatching cases with the arrest of its four members. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Singh, alias Sonu (30); Paramjit Singh (26); Vanit Kumar (38); and Gurjit Singh, alias Kaka (23). Four other members of the gang are still on the run. The police also seized a .32 bore revolver with three live cartridges, a country-made .315 bore pistol with two live cartridges; 5 gm of heroin; Alto car; a bike without number plant and old currency worth Rs 37,500 from the accused. Gurjit and Paramjit were already declared proclaimed offenders by the court in various cases. Ranjit Singh, along with his associates, revealed that they had looted Rs 2, 70, 000 at gunpoint in Adarman village. He told the police that in 2016, they looted Rs 60,000 from a biker in Mehma village. Ranjit told the police that along with his associate Rohit Jharian, he had looted Rs 1, 50, 000 from Gurdial Singh, an employee of Jan Lakshmi Finance Company in Jalandhar, near Shanker village. SSP Gurpreet Singh Bullar said, “Ranjit was in contact with terrorist Rashpal Singh and the latter is his step father. He constituted a gang which is involved in murder and snatchings incidents. A total of 15 cases have been registered against him at various police stations.” Gurjit Singh’s mother Gurbax Kaur is serving a jail term in connection with a NDPS Act case.
