Tension over removal of stone

Though Badal himself inaugurated the parking complex on September 18, the civil administration headed by SDM Jyoti Bala prevented the inauguration of incomplete parking complex. Phagwara, January 16Tension prevailed in the town today when residents witnessed removal of foundation stone of the Multi-Storey Parking Complex laid by former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal on February 21 in 2016. XEN PWD Varinder Kumar said here on Tuesday evening that PWD employees were working to shift the foundation stone inside the complex which was near completion now. He, however, expressed the hope that the parking complex would soon be operational.

Phagwara, January 16 Tension prevailed in the town today when residents witnessed removal of foundation stone of the Multi-Storey Parking Complex laid by former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal on February 21 in 2016. Phagwara MLA Som Parkash made hard efforts to sanction the multi-storey parking worth Rs 10 crore. Though Badal himself inaugurated the parking complex on September 18, the civil administration headed by SDM Jyoti Bala prevented the inauguration of incomplete parking complex. XEN PWD Varinder Kumar said here on Tuesday evening that PWD employees were working to shift the foundation stone inside the complex which was near completion now. Assistant Municipal Commissioner Surjit Singh said the MC will have to deposit Rs 2.5 crore in the bank accounts of the PWD before taking the possession and completion of the certificate. He admitted that the land of the parking complex belongs to the PWD. The MC will deposit the amount to transfer the land in the name of the local bodies department. He, however, expressed the hope that the parking complex would soon be operational. SDM said shifting the foundation stone is a routine process to shift the foundation stone at appropriate place before it is operational. However, Phagwara MLA Som Prakash remained hesitant and did not comment on the development. — OC
