Uniform policy for relief to terrorism-affected sought

Chief Ministers of different states are announcing different relief measures, he said. Dr Bagga urged the elected representatives to take up the issue of uniform relief measures to terrorist-affected families in the country. To provide different relief measures to the victims of terrorist violence is discriminatory, unfortunate and even unjustified. Presently if an incident of terrorist violence gets prominence, the relief measures are announced to the maximum and if incident does not get prominence the relief is provided to the minimum. Dr Bagga said 39 workers gunned down by Islamic state in Iraq Mosul were from different states of the country.

Our Correspondent Hoshiarpur, March 24 Relief to terrorist effected families in our country is not provided on uniform pattern. Son of slain MLA OP Bagga, who was gunned down by terrorists 23 years ago, and retired Civil Surgeon Dr Ajay Bagga, Convenor 'Savera' – Society for social awareness said the Central Government in consultation with state governments should have permanent definite policy regarding relief to be provided to dependents of those killed in terrorist violence. Presently if an incident of terrorist violence gets prominence, the relief measures are announced to the maximum and if incident does not get prominence the relief is provided to the minimum. Dr Bagga said 39 workers gunned down by Islamic state in Iraq Mosul were from different states of the country. Out of 39 workers, 27 are from Punjab, 4 from Himachal Pradesh and 8 from other states. Chief Ministers of different states are announcing different relief measures, he said. To provide different relief measures to the victims of terrorist violence is discriminatory, unfortunate and even unjustified. In certain states, sometimes, governments go out of way to provide jobs to grand children of the terrorist violence whereas in certain cases children run from pillar to post to get even Class IV job. Dr Bagga urged the elected representatives to take up the issue of uniform relief measures to terrorist-affected families in the country.
