With district administration touching the half way mark of the anti-Measles Rubella immunisation campaign, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma on Tuesday exhorted the educational institutions to give a final major push for achieving the 100 per cent target of this drive in the coming days. Interacting with the school management here at the local HMV college to achieve the target of the campaign in a time bound manner, the Deputy Commissioner said under this ambitious campaign more than 2.50 lakh children have been immunised in Jalandhar, so far. However, he said an equal number of children in age group of nine months to 15 years was still to be immunised. Sharma also said in order to achieve the desired target, a joint effort must be made by all the stakeholders be it be parents, educational institutions, health authorities or others. The Deputy Commissioner further said that more and more number of camps would be organised in schools for covering the left out students. Sharma asked the parents to take maximum benefit of this campaign for making Jalandhar a Measles Rubella free district. Earlier, Principal of the HMV College Dr. Ajay Sareen welcomed the dignitaries to the college and said that they were fortunate to be a part and parcel of this campaign of the state government and district administration. Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Sub Divisional Magistrates Paramvir Singh and Navneet Kaur Bal, Assistant Collector (Under Training) Himanshu Jain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Sekhon, District Immunisation Officer Dr Tarsem Singh, District Guidance Counselor Surjit Lal, Dr Satish Kumar and others.
