Mandeep bags sports award

Tribune News ServiceJalandhar, July 19Mandeep Kaur (31) of Sarai Khas, currently working with the Railway Department, recently conferred with the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Sports Award by the state government. Having started competing in athletics from the eighth standard onwards, Mandeep Kaur has participated in several international tournaments. Mandeep won the silver medal in the South Asian Games; bronze medal in the Asian Grand Prix at Thailand; as well as in Vietnam; silver medal in the European Meet at England; and a gold in the Senior National Championship in 4x100 category. While talking to The Tribune, she said: “I have been fortunate that I am backed by my parents and my in-laws in my pursuit for sports. Lately, Mandeep was honoured by the Shere Punjaba Sports Club, headed by the panchayat of the Dayalpur village, in Kartarpur for her achievements in the field of sports.

My father and brother have constantly backed me in my pursuit for sports.” “Currently, for the past about six months I am down with an injury, after which I will again begin competing in various tourneys,” she added. Lately, Mandeep was honoured by the Shere Punjaba Sports Club, headed by the panchayat of the Dayalpur village, in Kartarpur for her achievements in the field of sports.
