IN BRIEF Hoshiarpur: Karate player Bobby Sharma will represent the country in the 11th World Karate Championship at Santiago in Chilli. The championship will begin from October 24. Besides, Bobby is the first youngest female karate player from the state who had won gold in a national event. She is a student of Class X at SD Girls School. Shihan Jagmohan Vij, who has been training Bobby since 2014, said she had won medals at the South Asian Karate Championship held in Colombo, International Open Karate Championship held in Jaipur. She also bagged a medal in a championship held in Malaysia. OC Wheat stolen from flour mill Phagwara: Unidentified persons stole 93.8 kg of wheat from a flour mill at Dhak Pandori village on Monday. On a complaint of Vijay Kumar, owner of the mill, a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered. The police have started investigating the incident. OC Phagwara: A man was killed after being hit by a bus here. The deceased has been identified as Surinder Kumar, a resident of Gobindpura here. The driver managed to flee from the spot after the incident. A case under Sections 304-A and 279 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
