Provide suitable land for graveyard to minorities in Nakodar: DC to officials

Tribune News ServiceJalandhar, November 19Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday asked officials to accord top priority in finding a suitable land for graveyard for minority communities in the Nakodar subdivision. The Deputy Commissioner asked the Panchayat Department to find a suitable land for burial grounds for the communities in the Nakodar area in 15 days. Meanwhile, commission Chairman Munawar Masih appreciated the administration for providing the land for the graveyard in Bhogpur and Pholriwal. He also called Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja and asked to ensure early clearance of the land for the graveyard in the city. Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Kulwant Singh, DCP Arun Saini, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM) Amit Kumar, District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Rajinder Singh, DDPO Iqbaljeet Singh, DPO Amarjeet Singh Bhullar and SP Sarbjeet Singh Bahia were among those others present.

Taking part in a meeting with the Punjab State Minority Commission to discuss problems being faced by members of the Christian and Muslim communities in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said the administration would ensure early resolution of the issue. The Deputy Commissioner asked the Panchayat Department to find a suitable land for burial grounds for the communities in the Nakodar area in 15 days. He appealed to representatives of the communities to submit their written applications so that a time-bound action could be taken by the administration. Meanwhile, commission Chairman Munawar Masih appreciated the administration for providing the land for the graveyard in Bhogpur and Pholriwal. He also called Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja and asked to ensure early clearance of the land for the graveyard in the city. He said cemeteries should have basic facilities so that people did not face any kind of problem while performing rituals. Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Kulwant Singh, DCP Arun Saini, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM) Amit Kumar, District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Rajinder Singh, DDPO Iqbaljeet Singh, DPO Amarjeet Singh Bhullar and SP Sarbjeet Singh Bahia were among those others present.
