FROM SCHOOLS At the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Kadianwali, Jalandhar, a night sky view was organised with the help of the team of the Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala Astronomical Department, under the leadership of Akashdeep Singh. The programme was conducted under the guidance of school principal Balraj Kaur. Rama, the science mistress, took the initiative to conduct the programme. Students, staff and members of the school management committee, viewed the celestial bodies with the help of astronomical telescope. Students given farewell Blessing and farewell ceremony for Class XII students of Manav Sehyog School (MSS), Shahpur, Jalandhar, was held. A special cultural programme was organised by Class XI students in the auditorium. The day started with a “bhajan”. Class XI students presented foot-tapping dances and choreography which were followed with the “Mr and Miss MSS” pageant show. Students of Class XII showed their talent in modelling. Sukhjeet Singh of Class XII (Commerce) and Namrata Kaur of Class XII (humanities) were adjudged “Mr and Miss MSS” respectively. Manpreet Kaur of Class XII (commerce) was adjudged ‘the best attired’, Baljeet Singh of Class XII (humanities) was adjudged “Mr Handsome”, Yashmeen of Class XII (medical) was adjudged “Miss Charming”. The principal and staff showered petals to wish the students of Class XII. Students visited NASA centre A group of students from Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School, Sangal Sohal, Variana, Kapurthala Road, Jalandhar, visited NASA Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA. During the trip, students visited the NASA centre and got an opportunity to interact with NASA astronauts, explored launching- landing facilities for space shuttles, visited shuttle manufacturing sites, and took part in many other such activities. —TNS
