BJP, VHP leaders among booked

The BJP and VHP leaders who had been booked belong to former Phagwara MLA Som Parkash’s faction. Balbhadhar Sein Duggal alleged that his son and daughter-in-law were attacked with lathis and sharp weapons. The police on the complaint of Neetu, a BJP councillor, had booked district BJP vice-president Gurdeep Singh Deepa, his two companions Nitin Chadha and Vivek Chadha and six other unidentified persons, for allegedly molesting her and attacking her husband near Jathere Duggalan Hadiabad on Wednesday night. The assailants even attempted to molest her and snatched away her stole before fleeing, Neetu said. However, Deepa denied the charges and said he was at home when the incident occurred.

ABUSING COPS, DAMAGING FURNITURE DURING PROTEST Ashok Kaura Phagwara, February 10 The Satnampura police have registered a case under Sections 186/353 of the IPC last night against former nagar council president and former BJP block president Balbhadhar Sein Duggal, his brother VHP leader Hari Krishan Duggal and around 40 others for protesting outside the Satnampura police station, abusing police personnel and damaging furniture of the station, besides creating disturbance to police duty on Wednesday night. However, Duggal denied the charges and described the police action as politically motivated. The SSP, Kapurthala, Alka Meena, said the police were investigating the matter. They levelled serious allegation against a few loyalists of state BJP president Vijay Sampla of attacking Balbhadhar Sein Duggal’s son and former BJYM president Ashok Duggal and his wife Neetu, due to which they staged a protest outside the police station.
