It was the only school whose teachers bagged nine runners-up positions and also won a cash prize.

COLLEGE NOTES KMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar, organised a talent-hunt competition in the college auditorium. The function started with lighting of the lamp by chief guest Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi. She congratulated all students and the faculty for holding the event. Students performed various items like dance, choreography, singing, modeling and many more. In modeling, Jaspreet won the Best Attire award, Harsimran was adjudged Miss Gorgeous while Prachi and Nandini were first and second runners-up. Miss KMV Collegiate School was Simran. Principal Atima Sharma congratulated school in-charge Veena Deepak and the staff for organising the event. Dr Kamaljit, Head of the department of music; Hardeep Kaur, Registrar, KMV; Dr Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare; Dr Gurjot Kaur, Dean ECA and Harpreet Kaur, Head of the departmnt of fashion designing were present on the occasion. Int’l festival A movie made by Gurukaran Bir Singh Bath from the multimedia department of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts’ has been chosen for an international festival. “Harike Pattan” has been selected for Festival Universtaire International Cine: Letters D’ Agodi for its screening at Morrocco. The student is studying for the eighth semester of BMM at the institution. Harike Pattan is the name of the river near Tarn Taran. The film covers historical facts associated with the river. The film brings to light some negative facts related to the violation of human rights, mainly during 1990-95. Principal Dr Sucharita Sharma gave best wishes to the student. Language workshop The department of English of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a workshop on ‘Enhancing language skills through SANAKO Software’. Er Mohammad Kafil, master trainer and technical sales manager, Sanako Education India Private Ltd, New Delhi, was invited to train the faculty in the language software. Dr Sareen highlighted the importance of communication skills in the professional world, she also said it plays an important role in personality development and enhancing confidence of the students. Er. Kafil trained the faculty to operate the software in the Language Lab. Kranti Wadhawa, Ramnita Saini Sharda, Archana Kapoor, Neeraj Aggarwal, Lovleen Kaur, Nandini, Chhavi, Maneet were present, among others. Mother’s week Nobel School celebrated the Mothers’ Week. Activities were organised in the pre-wing to make kids realise the importance of mother. The KG grade participated enthusiastically in the activities. Sweety and Ritu helped the children. They made spray painted flowers cards to show respect to their mothers. Principal Meenakshi Mehta was present during the activity. Academician awards Nine teachers of Dayanand Model School, Model Town, added another feather to its cap by showcasing their brilliance and dexterity in the Biggest Academician Awards organised by Humming Bird Education Association, Delhi. As many as 43,000 teachers from 13,000 schools participated in the programme, where they had to make multiple choice questions subjectwise for different competitive exams. It was the only school whose teachers bagged nine runners-up positions and also won a cash prize. Principal Vinod Kumar congratulated the teachers and applauded their efforts. Admissions With investment worth Rs 250 crore on infrastructure, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University’s is upbeat ahead of the new admission session. A university spokesperson said the initial task was to develop infrastructure at its main campus- three college buildings, central library, two students’ hostels, seminar hall, open air theatre, sports indoor-outdoor complex, an auditorium, staff residence and couple residential hostel. The university has announced admissions to its main campus in Kapurthala, constituent campuses at Batala, Bhikhiwind, Dinanagar and Hoshiarpur and its 186 affiliated colleges for various AICTE, UGC courses. This year, the university had notified 30 under-graduate UGC courses and 33 master degree and PG diploma level courses. The spokesperson said online counselling fee deposition would start from May 10 for different AICTE courses like BTech, BArch, BPharm, MTech, MBA and others. He said the university main campus had 590 seats and there were 1,010 seats at constituent institutions.
