Two acquitted in double murder

SNIPPETSJalandhar: The court of Krunesh Kumar, Additional District and Sessions Judge, yesterday acquitted two persons accused in a murder case dating back to January 18, 2014. Resham Singh of Kishanpura locality in Phagwara and Rajesh Joshi of Ali Mohalla in Jalandhar were booked for the murder of Sushil Joshi, a resident of Azad Nagar in Bhargo Camp and Mahinder Singh, alias Titu, of Kartar Nagar Model House. The accused have been identified as identified as Kuldip Singh of Chack Ramu village, near Behram, and Paramjit Lal of Madhali village, said SP Parminder Singh Bhandhal. The accused was identified as Ajay Kumar, alias ‘ganja’, a close aide of notorious criminal Bharat Bhushan, alias Bobby, a resident of Abad Pura. The family of the accused had presented a copy of the handwritten diary dating back to October 12, 2013, in which Resham had mentioned that he had lent an amount of Rs 49 lakh to Rajesh Joshi for going abroad, which the latter had refused to return. Resham had reportedly also written that he was called to Ibbar Pind with a wrong intention and if anything happened to him, the twosome would be responsible for the same. The diary pages were even sent to forensic expert for handwriting matching. However, the case went in favour of the accused.The CIA staff arrested a person with 43 cases of illicit liquor, which were recovered from his car. The accused was identified as Ajay Kumar, alias ‘ganja’, a close aide of notorious criminal Bharat Bhushan, alias Bobby, a resident of Abad Pura. While Ajay was arrested, Bobby managed to escape from the spot. While giving information, Inspector Ajayveer Singh said both the accused, who were travelling with illicit liquor in Honda City car (bearing registration No. PB10-AU-3450), were caught near Bhargo Camp. The police have registered a case under Section 61-1-14 of the Excise Act. Two drug peddlers arrested Phagwara: The city police arrested two drugs peddlers and recovered 20 gm of intoxicant powder and 425 intoxicant tablets from their possession.
