DC conducts surprise checks

During his visit to the city, the DC first conducted a surprise check at the office of Kartarpur Improvement Trust. The DC said he would continue to hold surprise checking in the coming days. He found three officials absent from duty. Meanwhile, the DC said the surprise checks were conducted to ensure punctuality and discipline in the government offices, besides fulfilling the commitment of the state government for prompt deliverance of citizen-centric services and redressal of public grievances. Going through the attendance register, the DC found five employees of the civic body absent from duty.

Eight officials found absent, show-cause notices to be issued Kartarpur (Jalandhar), September 22 To ensure punctuality and discipline in government offices, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma conducted surprise checks at the offices of the Improvement Trust, Municipal Council and Government Senior Secondary School here today. He found eight officials — five at the Kartarpur Improvement Trust and three at the Kartarpur Municipal Council — absent from duty. During his visit to the city, the DC first conducted a surprise check at the office of Kartarpur Improvement Trust. Going through the attendance register, the DC found five employees of the civic body absent from duty. Subsequently, Sharma moved to the office of Municipal Council for checking. He found three officials absent from duty. Later, he visited Government Senior Secondary School and checked the attendance at the school. No one was found absent in the school. Meanwhile, the DC said the surprise checks were conducted to ensure punctuality and discipline in the government offices, besides fulfilling the commitment of the state government for prompt deliverance of citizen-centric services and redressal of public grievances. He said show-cause notices would be issued to officials who were absent during the working hours. The DC said he would continue to hold surprise checking in the coming days. Sharma said any sort of laxity in the attendance and punctuality at the office would not be tolerated.
