Regularisation of staff sought by Punjab State Subordinate Services Union

Tribune News ServiceJalandhar, November 5A state convention of the Punjab State Subordinate Services Union, under Kulwant Singh Gill, state president, was held at the Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Hall here today. At the convention, state general secretary Sukhdev Singh Saini, presented a resolution as per which he presented the demands and problems of the employees. In the resolution passed on the occasion, it was demanded that the state government should make regular recruitment on vacant posts. He said farmers were committing suicide, while the Punjab Government wasn’t even paying salaries to its employees on time. They also demanded that the services of employees recruited in various projects and schemes on a contractual basis should be regularised, adding that that the Act recommending the regularisation of services of 27,000 employees be implemented in the state.

At the convention, state general secretary Sukhdev Singh Saini, presented a resolution as per which he presented the demands and problems of the employees. He said notebandi and the GST had blocked the progress of the country. He said reforms were being made with the moneyed on mind. Their debts and taxes were being pardoned. New-liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation policies were snatching employment opportunities rather than providing these. He said farmers were committing suicide, while the Punjab Government wasn’t even paying salaries to its employees on time. In the resolution passed on the occasion, it was demanded that the state government should make regular recruitment on vacant posts. They also demanded that the services of employees recruited in various projects and schemes on a contractual basis should be regularised, adding that that the Act recommending the regularisation of services of 27,000 employees be implemented in the state. The other demands included the suspension of the new pension scheme and implementation of the old one as well as the allocation of pension benefits to all, pay commission report to be implemented after due consultation with all employees, the pending DA instalments to be paid to employees, all allowances be doubled, medical allowance be raised to Rs 1,000 per member, per month. Village allowance be raised to 10 per cent, the task of handling pre-primary classes be given to anganwari workers and helpers, and they be declared government employees. They also said that the process of the GPF advance be made more easy, the onus of 1,186 dispensaries be shifted to the Health Department again, and the decision to close 800 government schools be withdrawn immediately. Employees from different villages, including Ravinder Luthra, Chamkaur Singh, Kulvir Moga, Manjit Singh Sangrur, Kewal Singh Bathinda, Bakshi Singh, Kanwaljit Saghowal, among others, were present on the occasion.
