Woman mukhia dies of snake bite

"Five crucial hours were lost in between the snake bite and the victim's arrival to the hospital that led to the death of the victim. JAMSHEDPUR: A 33-year-old woman village mukhia died of snake bite when she went out to relieve herself in the open at Hatgamharia block of West Singhbhum district early.The incident happened early on Wednesday and the victim, Jano Sinku, is a resident of Jamdih panchayat.The victim's family members took her initially to a quack but when her health deterioriated, she was rushed to the sadar hospital in Chaibasa.Doctors at the hospital tried to revive Jano but she died during treatment. If the family members had not taken the victim to the quack, the woman would have had a better chance of survival," officials at the Hatgamharia police station said.Earlier on May 17, two persons sustained acid injuries when they fought with each other after one of the injured went to defecate in the field in the early hours despite several requests not to do so in the Kiriburu police station.
