Sales figures from four major cities - Ranchi, Jamshedpur , Dhanbad and Bokaro - indicate that there were no dearth of demand and supply in the market, be it vehicles, electronic goods or jewellery.Auto-mobile companies have made proper arrangements for their big day and most of them rolled out as many vehicles as was in demand. Few two-wheeler dealers, however, had to postpone delivery due to lack of time in installing a few fittings."We have delivered almost 250 cars on Monday to meet our customers' expectations. We have sold the highest number of cars this year in comparison to Bihar and the rest of Jharkhand this Dhanteras," Rakesh Singh, sales manager of Premsons motors in Ranchi, said.In Bokaro, prominent vehicles and two-wheeler showrooms delivered more than 1,500 vehicles while in Jamshedpur different two-wheeler dealers sold more than 2,000 units in one day."Over 600 cars have been booked for delivery on Dhanteras and Diwali with near 70% of the cars in the price band of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5.50 lakh," said vehicle loan executive, Shailesh Tiwary. He added that over 2,000 two-wheelers have also been sold in Steel City."It's difficult to calculate sales figures in terms of money but it will be in multiple crores," said Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) state functionary, Suresh Sonthalia. He added that the market has steadily recovered following the early hiccups of demonetisation and GST and this Diwali the mood of the market is relatively good.Gold merchants in Bokaro believe the jewellery shops in the district have done a business of more than Rs 9 crore on Dhanteras. "In comparison to last year, the sale of gold has increased. Many people preferred buying ornaments made of gold, diamonds and platinum on Dhanteras. The gold and silver coins were huge in demand," said Dheeraj Kumar, proprietor of a jeweller showroom.
