JAMSHEDPUR: The government-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH) has decided to install close-circuit television CCTV ) in the college hostels to strengthen the surveillance and to check the menace of ragging in the campus.College principal A C Akhori said, "We are trying to install CCTVs at seven locations in and outside the hostel to keep an eye on the activities of the students. We will install the cameras in moderate number in the first phase and install some more later in the year."The principal also said that anti-ragging cell will hold surprise inspections at the hostels. The college administration is also planning to increase the number of security personnel deployed in the campus."It has been strictly conveyed that any student found guilty of ragging will be immediately removed from the institution. Police action will be initiated against the concerned student," Akhori said.Akhori added that the upcoming batch of students are also being briefed on the same. The new students will have to sign an undertaking that they will not indulge in anti-social activities."Anti-ragging sessions have become an important part of the pre-counselling session," Akhori said.
