Demonetisation led the country towards a clean economy: Munda

JAMSHEDPUR: Senior BJP leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda said the demonetization decision of the government announced last year led the country firmly towards a clean economy Addressing the party workers at the anti-black money day function organized by Jamshedpur Mahanagar unit of BJP at Chamber Bhawan here, Munda said that the 125 crore populacion of the country have fought firmly and confidently against black money and corruption.The people has reposed faith in the government and strongly supported the government move, he said while referring the banning of Rs 500 and 1,000 denomination notes on this day last year.Following the noteban decision by the government, he said it has exposed maximum black money in the history of the country while the middlemen and corrupt people were rendered helpless.Describing the demonetization decision as long-term step and aimed to lead the country towards a clean economy, he said the number of taxpayers has drastically increased post-demonetization.Highlighting the impact of demonetization, he said there was a major drop in the prices in real estate sector including housing sector and the people have heaved a sigh of relief as interest rates on loans have also came down.Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-President of BJP Jharkhand Unit, Bidyut Baran Mahato, MP, said while the incidents of stone pelting in trouble-torn Jammu and Kashmir valley has plunged drastically, it has broken the backbone of separatists and Maoists.Criticizing the opposition parties including the Cognress, who have observed today as black day, for harbouring a soft-corner towards the separatists, Mahato said the parties patronizing and supporting the separatists were terming the noteban decision as a failure.Meanwhile, the opposition parties including Congress, JVM, JMM staged dharna in front of East Singhbhum district headquarter here to oppose the demonetization move, which had claimed several lives and rendered many jobless.
