JODHPUR: In a major drug haul, Jodhpur police on Friday seized a huge consignment of poppy husk from a truck, hidden among the wheat sacks and arrested one person near Balesar on Jodhpur-Jaisalmer highway.The consignment had been loaded in Bhilwara. On weighing them, each of the sack found containing 20 kg husk. SP (Jodhpur Rural) Rajan Dushyant said that the Balesar police spotted a truck during a routine nakabandi on Friday morning.“This truck was stopped and when inquired about the goods in the truck, the driver said that there were the sacks of wheat in the truck,” said Dushyant.But when the police checked the truck, it found 57 sacks, amid 198 sacks of wheat, which on checking found to be poppy husk. When inquired, the driver identified as Devilal Bairwa said that he had coming from Bhilwara and was to deliver in border area.In past one month, police have seized huge consignments of poppy husk and have seized 4 trucks of poppy husk and 1 truck on illicit liquor arresting about half a dozen persons.On the other hand, Jodhpur police have also arrested 3 persons for smuggling of liquor to Ahmedabad through private passenger buses under the garb of handicraft items.Two days back, police had seized two cartons of Beer and one carton of foreign liquor from a passenger bus bound for Ahmedabad.
