But in last election, NSUI had swept all the four posts. JODHPUR: Having lost by nine votes to NSUI’s Sunil Choudhary, ABVP’s candidate for the president post of Jai Narayan Vyas University (JNVU), Mool Singh has taken matters to the court. Singh on Wednesday moved a petition challenging the results of the election which were declared late Tuesday night. In his petition, Singh has alleged muddling in the counting of votes and challenged rejection of 400 votes and not granting his plea of recounting.Singh also alleged in the petition that the votes were rejected even after voting by applying thumb impressions. In the results declared late Tuesday night amid the objections of the ABVP, NSUI claimed two of the apex positions including the president’s post and joint general secretary while the ABVP had to remain content with the post of general secretary. The post of vice president went to an independent candidate. The counting comprising five rounds for each post had initially been completed by 10.30pm but sudden swing in the trends led to delay in declaration of the results.ABVP’s Singh, who was leading in the first three rounds started lagging in the counting and by the fifth round, NSUI’s Choudhary took a dramatic lead making it to victory by 39 votes.Following the objections of Singh, the chief election officer went for re-counting and finally Choudhary was declared winner by a meager margin of nine votes. But this decision delayed the results, which could finally be announced at 2.00am, after which the supporters of Choudhary erupted into cheer and busted crackers. With this result, the NSUI has succeeded in retaining the president post of the JNVU student union.
