SSC aspirant hacked to death, 3 held

Kanpur: A 25-year-old Staff Selection Commission (SSC) aspirant was hacked to death allegedly by three local hoodlums in front of the farm house of former Samajwadi Party MLA from Etah Rameshwar Singh Yadav on Ganga Barrage-Bithoor road under the limits of Nawabganj police station late on Sunday night.Police have arrested three persons, who were trying to flee in a battery-rickshaw from the spot soon after committing the crime.A case has been booked against all the three under relevant IPC sections including 302.On coming to know about the murder, the Commissioner of Police (CP) RK Swarnkar reached the spot on Monday morning and directed Nawabganj police to take action against the accused as per rule of the law and evidence.According to the police, the deceased Pradeep Kumar, basically a native of Kannauj, was preparing for SSC exam and was living in a rented room in Pehalwan Ka Purwa in Nawabganj area of the city.Pradeep had a liquor party on Sunday night with friends Suraj Diwakar (21) of Auraiya, Ankul Saini (20) of Hardoi and Lalit Nishad (20), a resident of Nawabganj area.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Pramod Kumar said, the three have confessed to committing the crime. They told the police that last night while they were sitting in an e-rickshaw and drinking liquor, this young man came, abused us and asked them to drop him at Tilak Nagar crossing, the DCP further said and added, After that they dropped him and made him sit in the e-rickshaw, and ten they asked him the reason for abusing them.Then the dispute escalated and Pradeep started threatening them with dire consequences by telling them about his proximity with a local hoodlum Dewa, the official further said. On this, Lalit, one of the three accused, got angry after hearing the name of Deva, because he had a fight with him a few months ago, said the police official and added, The dispute further snowballed so much that all three of them attacked Pradeep together with bricks and slit open his throat with sharp-edged pieces of glasses. After this, with the help of e-rickshaw, the trio dumped the dead body outside the farm house of a former Samajwadi Party MLA from Etah, Rameshwar Singh Yadav, on the Ganga-Barrage-Bithoor road. Hearing the screams, the guard of the adjacent farm house informed the Nawabganj police station.As soon as the information was received, three police teams from Nawabganj police station reached the spot and after a brief chase arrested Ankul, Suraj and Lalit, who were fleeing in an e-rickshaw near Baniya Purwa.The clothes of all three were stained with blood. DCP Central Pramod Kumar had rewarded the police team with a cash prize of Rs 20,000. To boost the morale of the police team which had worked out the case in a record time of 6 hours, we have awarded a cash prize, the DCP further said.
