more-in Even as the coal strike call was withdrawn, the coal companies had set up videography and photography arrangements at mine level to identify persons taking part on strike, according to a coal ministry statement. “To maintain peace and thwart any disruption of mining activities, all the subsidiary companies (of Coal Indi a Ltd) had geared up by setting up videography and photography arrangement at mine level to identify personas taking part in strike. This move paid result as it dissuaded the agitators to force any work stoppage and sit on dharna,” the ministry said in an official release on Tuesday. It noted that central trade unions of CIL had issued a day’s strike notice on April 16 to protest the government proposal on commercial mining. The release said that barring some stray incidents where protestors tried to sit on dharna, things were normal and production was not adversely affected. Unions affiliated to the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Hind Mazdoor Sangh, All India Trade Union Congress and the Centre for Trade Unions agreed to call off the strike after their “apprehensions were dispelled”(with BMS and HMS inking a pact on it), the release said, adding that CITU later called for a protest day against commercial mining.
