Bangla snatcher on tourist visa on the prowl

KOLKATA: A snatcher from Bangladesh, visiting India on a tourist visa, was caught red-handed by the cops from Paltform No. Since then, he would apply for a month-long tourist visa every year with his legitimate passport and reach Kolkata. 3 of Sealdah station on Saturday.During investigation, the snatcher, Miraz Seikh (37), confessed he had been coming to India for the past several years to rob people. As people started boarding a Sealdah-Krishnagar Local, the team noticed a man lifting a mobile phone from a passenger’s pocket. Soon, the cops nabbed him and found two other mobile phones from him.During interrogation, Seikh confessed he used to visit India for a month every year to commit such crimes and take back the items to Bangladesh, where they fetched a good price,” an RPF officer said.Seikh claimed he had first entered India with a friend, who taught him how to make money in this way.

Generally, he used to stay for a month to carry out these activities.This incident took place barely four months after Kolkata Police nabbed two Bangladeshi women from the New Market area for robbing shoppers.Seikh was a resident of Dumuritala in Pirojpur’s Sarittala in Bangladesh.“We had received complaints of theft, pickpocketing and snatching at the station and a special drive was conducted by inspector Ajay Shankar of the crime intelligence branch of the Sealdah RPF and others, including ASI P Kumar as well as members of the special task force, RPF, Sealdah on Saturday.
