Woman found dead; murder cuffs on hubby

HOWRAH: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband when she ‘refused’ to quit her job at a private bank. Mily Ghosh was found hanging inside the bedroom of her in-laws’ house at Pakuria in Howrah’s Domjur on Saturday morning. We could hear Abhisekh and his parents repeatedly telling Mily to quit her job at a private bank. Her husband, a manager in a private company, wanted his wife to quit her job. She was a computer operator at the Howrah branch of the bank, police said.

She was a computer operator at the Howrah branch of the bank, police said. Her husband, a manager in a private company, wanted his wife to quit her job. The woman, however, refused and continued to work. On Saturday morning, the woman’s body was recovered by police and sent for autopsy.The victim’s husband and mother-in-law were arrested and charged with murder under section 302 IPC and torturing one’s wife/daughter-in-law under section 498A IPC. Police said that after their arrest, the accused told investigators that the victim committed suicide. Mily Ghosh was found hanging inside the bedroom of her in-laws’ house at Pakuria in Howrah’s Domjur on Saturday morning. Asit Samanta , a neighbour, said: “We noticed in the morning that Mily’s husband Abhisekh Ghosh and his mother Jyotsna Ghosh hurriedly locking the main gate of their house and leaving. But we heard the two-year-old son of Abhisekh and Mily crying from inside. The couple used to pick up fights regularly. Mily could often be heard crying. We could hear Abhisekh and his parents repeatedly telling Mily to quit her job at a private bank. She had joined the job two months ago. When Mily would refuse to quit, we heard them accuse her of having an extra marital affair at her workplace.”Mily’s father Asto Panja of Howrah’s Belilious Road said, “Mily would often tell me that she had got the job after a lot of effort but her husband and inlaws wanted her to quit it. She said she wanted to earn and be self sufficient besides looking after me and my wife.” IC Domjur Subir Roy said, “On the basis of the complaint by the victim’s father and some documents, we arrested her husband and mother-in-law.”
