KOLKATA: The police have begun a probe into a complaint filed by an SRFTI student alleging that she was molested by two of her seniors at least twice over the past three months. The girl went to Panchasayer police and submitted a written complaint on Sunday night. Officers, however, said the student could not identify the two accused.“The girl said that she was initially molested in the third week of September. However, when she was attending a pre-Diwali party, the accused tried to misbehave with her again. The girl complained that she was being threatened andthey were pressuring her to withdraw the complaint. In this regard, we plan to contact the SRFTI authorities and collect some relevant CCTV footage,” said an officer.The police may also get the girl’s statement registered once they get some leads in the case, indicated Panchasayer police sources.SRFTI director Debamitra Mitra said, “The incident pertains to a Diwali night students’ party. After the incident came to light, we have ordered an inquiry into it. Let the report come out first.”According to a senior official, one of the accused students was reportedly drunk when he misbehaved with the complainant. The official said a few other seniors intervened and made him aware of his act. He added that the matter was being probed in detail.
