New Town residents pledge to back water conservation initiatives

Kolkata: Residents of New Town took a pledge to conserve water on Friday as a part of celebrations of Save Water Day initiative, which was announced by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation ( HIDCO), New Town Kolkata Development Authority ( NKDA) and Nabadiganta Industrial Authority ( NDITA) organised several programmes to create awareness among the residents about water conservation. On Thursday, a sit-and-draw competition and an essay competition on water conservation was held in which children and youths took part. Rallies were taken out from Kolkata Gate, New Town Business Club and Gate number I and II of Eco Park. Instead they will be provided 500 ml and 200 ml water bottles as a water conservation measure.
