Check on smoking at Swasthya Bhavan

Kolkata: The State Health department has decided to take prompt action against those who will be found smoking on the Swasthya Bhavan premises. The norms will be implemented from August 15 and the offenders will have to pay a fine if they are caught smoking at any portion of Swasthya Bhavan building and also in the compound. The entire Swasthya Bhavan building has been declared as smoking-free zone. If anyone is found to smoking in any place inside the Swasthya Bhavan compound in Salt Lake, he will be fined. It was learnt that a glow sign board will be put at the main gate of the Swasthya Bhavan which reads 'Tobacco free zone'.

The department has also imposed some restrictions on the use of tobacco products. The norms will be implemented from August 15 and the offenders will have to pay a fine if they are caught smoking at any portion of Swasthya Bhavan building and also in the compound. There will be no smoking zone in any corner of the building. The entire Swasthya Bhavan building has been declared as smoking-free zone. Those, who will be carrying cigarette or any other tobacco products, will have to deposit in the drop box while entering the building. Earlier, many employees and officials alike used to smoke inside the toilet and canteen. The state health department on August 13 issued a notification saying that use of tobacco products will be banned from the Independence Day. The Health department officials considered the harmful effects of smoking on people do not smoke. If anyone is found to smoking in any place inside the Swasthya Bhavan compound in Salt Lake, he will be fined. It was learnt that a glow sign board will be put at the main gate of the Swasthya Bhavan which reads Tobacco free zone.
