Seven including 4 constables arrested for abduction

Kolkata: Seven persons, including two Kolkata Police constables, one state police constable and one BSF constable were arrested in Bowbazar police station for allegedly abducting a man on Thursday afternoon near E-mall on Central Avenue. At that moment, the police found only driver of the car identified as Shaikh Suleman. A team from Kolkata Police comprising police personnel from Bowbazar police station and Anti-Rowdy Squad (ARS) of Detective Department (DD) reached Labhpur. The police also came to know that Hanif is a constable of West Bengal Police, whereas Mondal and Khan are constables of Kolkata Police. In the abduction case, seven accused persons were arrested.

Kolkata: Seven persons, including two Kolkata Police constables, one state police constable and one BSF constable were arrested in Bowbazar police station for allegedly abducting a man on Thursday afternoon near E-mall on Central Avenue. The police came to know that the victim had duped several persons by promising jobs. So they were trying to recover the money by kidnapping him. Later, the abducted person was also arrested for cheating. According to sources, on Thursday around 3:10 pm, a man called up the police control room and informed that a few miscreants had abducted someone in a SUV and fled a few minutes ago. The Bowbazar police station was informed and directed for immediate action. The police started scrutinising CCTV footages and tried identifying the route which the kidnappers had taken. After identifying the car, the police started looking for a clear picture of the cars registration number. In the evening, in one of the CCTV camera footages, the cars registration number became clear. It was also found that the car went out of the city through Vidyasagar Setu. The details of the car were searched in the database and it was found that it belonged to a person identified as Alam Sekh of Labhpur in Birbhum. As soon as the owner was found, Kolkata Police got in touch with the Birbhum District Police, requesting for the interception of the car. The information was received by Labhpur police station around 10:30 pm. After a few hours, the police spotted the car at Laghata and intercepted it. At that moment, the police found only driver of the car identified as Shaikh Suleman. A team from Kolkata Police comprising police personnel from Bowbazar police station and Anti-Rowdy Squad (ARS) of Detective Department (DD) reached Labhpur. After interrogating Suleman, six other persons identified as Md Hanif of Labhpur, Shyamal Mondal of Manikchawk in Malda, Zakir Khan of Sainthia in Birbhum, Amir Hossain of Labhpur, Avijit Ghosh of Englishbazar in Malda and Manjarul Haque of Labhpur were arrested. The abducted person identified as Soumen Bose of Sodepur was rescued. During the search one 7mm pistol was recovered. A twist in the situation took place after arrest of the seven kidnappers. They claimed that Bose had taken money from some of them by promising jobs to their family members. The police also came to know that Hanif is a constable of West Bengal Police, whereas Mondal and Khan are constables of Kolkata Police. Also, Hossain is a constable of BSF. Later, all of them were detained and brought to Bowbazar police station. Two separate cases were registered. In the abduction case, seven accused persons were arrested. In another case, Bose was arrested for cheating.
