State s ministerial ranks see minor reshuffle

KOLKATA: Two ministers, namely Binay Krishna Barman and Shantiram Mahato, have been given new portfolios in a reshuffle in the state's ministerial ranks on Sunday. Subrata Mukherjee, who has been holding the charge of Panchayat and Rural Development, has been given the additional responsibility of the Non-Conventional Energy Sources (NES) department. Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay will now only hold the charge of the Power department, with NES being given to Mukherjee. In a notification issued on Sunday, charge of the Backward Classes Welfare and Tribal Development department was given to Binay Krishna Barman. Shantiram Mahato, who was left without any portfolio for a long period, has been given the responsibility of the department of Paschimanchal Unnayan.

Meanwhile, Rajib Banerjee has been given the responsibility of the Forest department and Bratya Basu, who was looking after the department so far, will now only look after the Science and Technology and Bio-technology department. Shantiram Mahato, who was left without any portfolio for a long period, has been given the responsibility of the department of Paschimanchal Unnayan.
