JeM threat ER conducts meet to boost security

Kolkata: Eastern Railway conducted a meeting on the safety and security of passengers at Fairlie Place on Tuesday. The meeting comes after a letter, purportedly sent by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), was received by Rohtak Railway station officials in September threatening to blow up several railway stations. Suneet Sharma, General Manager, Eastern Railway held a high-level meeting at ER Headquarters, Fairlie Place today (December 3). Principal officers and DRMs were present in the meeting, said an ER official. The letter sent by JeM terrorist Masood Ahmed from Karachi, the terrorist group has threatened to bomb 12 railway stations.

The letter sent by JeM terrorist Masood Ahmed from Karachi, the terrorist group has threatened to bomb 12 railway stations. This apart, in February this year, JeM had orchestrated the Pulwama terror attack. Forty CRPF personnel were killed in the attack. The letter, which was written in Hindi, said the group would avenge the killings of its terrorists by blowing up railway stations in various parts of the country. "Safety, Security and Punctuality is the primary concern of ER. GM advised all concerned to conduct more field inspections and stressed upon cleanliness and passenger amenities in stations and on board," said the official.
